Dr. Ryan Kessler
Principal
Dr. Kessler received his Bachelors of Arts degree in History/Secondary Education from Salisbury University, a Master's Degree in School Leadership from Wilmington University, and a Doctorate in Innovation and Leadership from Wilmington University. Dr. Kessler began his career in 2005 as a Social Studies teacher at Parkside High School. In 2012, Dr. Kessler became an Assistant Principal at Delmar Elementary School. Then in 2019 Dr. Kessler was appointed Principal of Pemberton Elementary School. He resides in Wicomico County with his wife, Brooke, and daughters, Elizabeth & Rylee. He enjoys spending time with his family and watching the New York Yankees and Washington Football Team.
Ms. Lauren Monroe
Assistant Principal
Ms. Monroe grew up in Salisbury and attended Wicomico County Public Schools, graduating from Wicomico High School. She continued her education at Salisbury University for Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education & Elementary Education, Master of Education, Reading Specialist, and Post-Masters certification in Educational Leadership. Ms. Monroe began her career with Wicomico County Public Schools in 2007 at the Wicomico Early Learning Center teaching full-day Prekindergarten. She was named the Wicomico County Teacher of the Year for 2014-2015. She has also served as an Adjunct Professor for Salisbury University and a Master Teacher for the Maryland State Department of Education. In 2018, she served as Lead Teacher for Early Childhood Programs for Wicomico County Public Schools under the direction of the Supervisor of Early Childhood. Then began her journey as an Assistant Principal in 2019 at Charles H. Chipman Elementary and then West Salisbury Elementary. Ms. Monroe is excited to serve and lead the Bobcat Family at Delmar Elementary! She believes in providing scholars and families a rigorous learning environment that also grows their social emotional skills.
Rebekah Donovan
Interim Assistant Principal
Dr. Rebekah Donovan is an accomplished educator with a career spanning since 2014. She began as a second-grade teacher at Hardy Elementary School in Chattanooga, TN, and later transitioned to Hurlock Elementary School in 2016. At Hurlock Elementary School, she initially taught third grade for three years before taking on the role of Reading Interventionist for three years, and eventually became the Instruction Literacy Coach for two years.
Dr. Donovan has continually advanced her education, earning a Master's in Reading and Literacy (K–12) and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership while working in Dorchester County. Her commitment to education is evident through her leadership roles and her dedication to school. Dr. Rebekah Donovan served as the Dean of Students at Westside Primary School before making the move to Delmar Elementary. In this role, she brings her extensive experience in education and leadership to support the academic and behavioral success of students. Dr. Donovan is dedicated to fostering a positive school environment and is committed to making a meaningful impact on the lives of students at Delmar Elementary.
