On July 1, 2020, Mrs. Lavion Bratten became Principal at the school systems Schumaker Complex, in charge of Evening High School, Online Learning Lab and the English Learner Language Support Program. Prior to this appointment, she served as Assistant Principal at Wicomico High School for seven years, and Dean of Students for one year. Before joining the WiHi administrative team, Mrs. Bratten was a business education teacher at Wicomico High School for 6 years. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Mrs. Bratten also received a Masters degree in Education through her graduate work at Walden University, as well as, a Masters degree in School Leadership and Instruction through her graduate work at Wilmington University. Mrs. Bratten enjoys working with students and advocating for them. She values and embraces education, and understands that education is not a one size fits all. Her beliefs and passion will strengthen her ability to meet the educational needs of every student. Her dedication to working with parents, staff, and community leaders to ensure every student success is impeccable.

Devin Smith

Mr. Devin Smith

  • Assistant Principal

Mr. Smith was appointed Assistant Principal to Wicomico County Public Schools Schumaker Complex on July 1, 2023. There, Mr. Smith will assist with Wicomico Evening High School, the Online Learning Lab, and the English Language Support System. Before his appointment, he served as the Dean of Students at James M. Bennett High School and Wicomico Evening High School. Prior to his work in school administration, Mr. Smith was a mathematics teacher at Choices Academy, Wicomico High School, and in Delaware. Mr. Smith received a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and his master’s in Curriculum and Instruction with a minor in Mathematics Education from the Concordia University of Portland. Additionally, Mr. Smith has earned his certification in school administration. Mr. Smith strives to create and maintain a positive, supportive learning environment for students, parents, and colleagues as an educator and administrator.
