The WiHi Athletic Department is thrilled to announce our Vernon Powell Student-Athletes of the Month for October! 🏆 Each month, in partnership with VP Shoes, we recognize one male and one female student-athlete who go above and beyond in the classroom 📚 and in their sports. Each honoree receives a $30 gift certificate to VP Shoes 👟 as a token of appreciation for their dedication and Tribe Pride.
Our October winners are Kalyn Washington and Richard Taylor! 🎉
Kalyn, a standout on our Cheerleading team, radiates school spirit every day and has shown incredible leadership by stepping up to support her team in the absence of her captains. She consistently goes beyond her comfort zone to uplift her teammates and contribute to their success. 📣
Richard represents our Unified Tennis team and brings boundless positivity and energy to every match. He motivates his teammates to excel and exemplifies sportsmanship by supporting not only his team but also his opponents with encouraging words. Richard’s joyful spirit and eagerness to participate are a true asset to our Tribe! 🎾

On Oct. 4, the 2024-2025 Wicomico Teacher of the Year, Debbie Reynolds (Wicomico Middle), joined the other 23 local teachers of the year from across the state at the Maryland Teacher of the Year Gala in Hunt Valley. Wicomico Schools had a fantastic time celebrating and supporting its top teacher, who in addition to teaching at Wicomico Middle is a graduate of James M. Bennett High and a former student of Bennett Middle, Prince Street Elementary, and Pittsville Elementary and Miiddle.. Thank you Ms. Reynolds for being such a fantastic representative of Wicomico County Public Schools, where our students are Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow.
Ms. Reynolds will continue to serve as Wicomico Teacher of the Year into April, when the 2025-2026 Wicomico Teacher of the Year is announced. That outstanding teacher is teaching in one of our schools right now, and your chance to nominate a deserving teacher for recognition is coming soon, starting Nov. 1.

Our winners for September are Samira Ductan and Mikhail Ingram! 🎉 Samira, a key member of our Girls Varsity Soccer team, has made a tremendous impact for the Tribe. In September, she scored a total of 16 goals ⚽, breaking the Girls Soccer scoring record. Mikhail, from our Varsity Football team, leads the team with 46 tackles 🏈 this season. Mikhail displays grit both on the field and in the classroom. Both of our September winners have risen to the challenge, achieving an unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher! 🎓

As you attend events at Wicomico County Stadium, please keep the following rules and regulations in mind:
Gate Information:
• Middle and Elementary School students MUST be accompanied by an adult (21 or older) and MUST STAY under their direct supervision. We welcome our young fans and appreciate the support they provide, but we also need to ensure their safe attendance.
• Backpacks and large bags are not permitted and should not be brought into the stadium. If brought, you will be asked to leave it in the car or leave the game.
• Noisemakers are not permitted in the stadium and may be confiscated.
• No outside food or drink is allowed in the stadium. Concessions will be available.
• Re-entry is not permissible. If you leave the stadium you will not be permitted back into the game. Please bring jackets, blankets, and sweatshirts when you initially enter.
• Footballs, soccer balls, and other athletic equipment is not permitted in the stadium and will be confiscated by staff.
Throughout the Event:
• Only coaches, players, officials, and game administrators are allowed inside the track and field area.
• When cheering during the game, we ask that fans not stand on or jump upon the seating planks in the stands.
• When cheering during the game, please refrain from standing along the front railing.
• To keep everyone safe, fans are directed not to push, shove or jump on one another.
• Good sportsmanship is positive encouragement and support for ALL athletes, performers, and officials. Unsportsmanlike conduct such as cheering against the opponent or officials, singling out specific student-athletes, foul language, booing, taunting, etc., may result in removal from the premises.
• We advise all spectators to take note of the stadium exits. Spectators should have a plan for exiting the stadium and meeting up in emergency situations such as bad weather.
• At the conclusion of the event, please leave the stadium and parking lots promptly. High School students relying on parent transportation should communicate anticipated ending time with parents to ensure their ability to be picked up promptly.
Parking:
• Wicomico HS athletics reminds you that parking is at the stadium is limited. Please park in designated spaces only.
• Carpooling is highly recommended.
• Cones are used to designate parking for school officials, police, and handicapped guests. Anyone parking in a handicapped zone illegally will be ticketed.
Tickets:
• No cash payment will be taken at the gate. All tickets must be purchased through GoFan.co. You can purchase your tickets in advance via https://gofan.co/app/school/MD22652 or credit/debit cards will be taken via GoFan Box Office at the gate.
• All Wicomico County Stadium tickets are priced $6.
• MPSSAA cards and WCBOE badges are the only passes accepted. MPSSAA passes only admit the card holder. WCBOE badges admit the employee and one guest.
• Concessions are cash only.
